November Club Meeting

For our November meeting we welcomed Justin Minns as a Zoom guest speaker.

Justin is a well-known professional photographer based in East Anglia. He has been published in a number of photographic magazines and is the author of the excellent Fotovue book ‘Photographing East Anglia’.

Justin’s talk gave a fantastic insight into how a professional photographer works on prestigious projects with a major organisation, in this case the National Trust.

Justin undertook a project to spend a year photographing National Trust properties around East Anglia, which was not without its challenges.

As beautiful as it is, East Anglia can be difficult to photograph being relatively flat and sometimes lacking in distinctive features. When the client is choosing the locations for you, this can become a real problem.

This is where Justin’s experience and knowledge of the area comes into play. His pre-shoot planning and research giving him the edge when it matters. Even so, sometimes the weather doesn’t play ball and he has had to think on his feet!

Walking us through this process and seeing the end product was informative and inspiring. An excellent presentation that shows just how much effort it takes to successfully deliver a major project like this.
