April Club Meeting – 50 Shades of Grey

Well, what an amazing club night this was

The evening started with a showing of the video made by Kevin Marriott of the images taken by club members on a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum earlier in the year. Although the weather on the day wasn’t great, it turned out that the rain only enhanced the images taken.

The challenge that those participating undertook, was to only take black and white images, in square format and fixed 50mm focal length lens (or equivalent). Kevin then set these images to music and the result was one of the most powerful and emotional 40 minutes we have ever had at the club.

This was followed in the second part of the evening by a selection of black and white images from the members, this time, no format or focal length restrictions and on any topic.

The result was a fantastic, eclectic mix of photographs that perfectly complimented the first part of the evening. I think everyone left the meeting with a strange mixture of emotional exhaustion mixed with joy at the experience we had just shared.

An exceptional evening everyone, thank you all for your contributions.

Please enjoy the images you submitted for the second part of the evening below, and we will endeavour to make the video available to all members as soon as possible.
