May Club Meeting – Shardlow

As the weather had been improving and the daylight hours increasing, we decided to have a walk around the village of Shardlow for our May meeting.

Given it coincided with a Bank Holiday, we were pleasantly surprised at the high turnout.

Guided by local Martin, we started from the Clock Warehouse and took a steady, leisurely and sociable walk along the canal path, down to the bridge at the New Inn, before making our way back through the village to the Clock Warehouse again.

There was clearly a great variety of interest in some of the architecture in the village, with many of the old warehouses being converted for housing or other use, but still maintaining the character of the properties. Having the canal to reflect the buildings and the added bonus of a wide variety of boats to hold the foreground interest, there was no shortage of views and subjects to photograph.

However, it was perhaps the two swans with a family of small fluffy cygnets that stole the evening. Probably ended up being more photographed than royalty!

An excellent evening and one we will try again in a different location. These are a few of the images taken which shows the wide variety of photographic techniques being used and also the wide variety of subjects that grabbed the attention of different photographers.
