At our July meeting we kicked off with the first 30 mins being dedicated to the club AGM. The main event of this section being the re-election of the committee. The AGM presentation plus supporting documents can be found under the Members section of this site.
For the main event of the evening, we had an absolutely riveting presentation by one of our members, David Gilbert, who gave an in depth talk on Derbyshire Wildlife.
It was clear right from the start of the talk that David had extensive knowledge of the local mammals, reptiles, insects and flora and had also built up impressive knowledge of where and when to find them. He took us through a selection of locations such as Ramsley Moor, Cromford Canal, The Forge, Cromford Park Reservoir, Toton Fields, Hoe Grange Quarry and Calke Park. He identified the best time of year to visit each location, where to park and the kind of wildlife you could expect to find. He treated us to a selection of his impressive range of photographs from all of these locations.
Such was the impact of his talk, that Chris Caverley, with support from David, has been arranging photographic walks to a selection of these locations. If you have the opportunity to attend one, they are highly recommended.
A big thank you to David for a great presentation and sharing so much information with the rest of the club. Here are a few of his images from the night.
