In November we held an additional club meeting and had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker Roger Evans.

Roger is a very experienced sports photographer who has had much of his work published in magazines and newspapers and has an impressive list of photographic awards. He has attended a wide variety of prestigious (and maybe some not so prestigious) sports events over the years.

As a result, Roger has accumulated a very impressive portfolio of images and a wealth of experience and he was most generous in sharing both with us on the evening.

He is an entertaining and engaging speaker with fantastic knowledge of his subject and has developed techniques to capture some challenging images in the most difficult of circumstances, all of which is more than happy to talk about. Throughout the evening he was happy to explain his approach and camera settings when capturing the images, many that worked and maybe some that didn’t.

We got an insight into how some well known personalities related to photographers and sometimes other spectators and perhaps some ‘tricks of the trade’ in getting the image you want.

It was a most enjoyable evening, full of great pictures, fascinating information and excellent entertainment. Thank you for a great club night Roger.
